What is Foundayo?

Foundayo (orforglipron) is a once daily GLP-1 pill, FDA approved for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or with overweight and a weight related health condition. It is used alongside a reduced calorie diet and more physical activity.

How is it different from the Wegovy pill?

Both are daily GLP-1 pills. Foundayo can be taken at any time, with or without food. The Wegovy pill is taken first thing in the morning with a 30 minute wait. In their own trials the Wegovy pill reached more weight loss on average, 13.6% against 11.1%. The two were not studied against each other.

How much does it cost?

What are the common side effects?

Important safety information

Medicines that work like Foundayo caused thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer, in studies in rodents. Foundayo did not, and it is not known whether these tumors happen in people. Do not use Foundayo if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Tell your provider about a lump or swelling in your neck, trouble swallowing, hoarseness or shortness of breath. Serious side effects can include inflammation of the pancreas, severe stomach problems, gallbladder problems, low blood sugar with other diabetes medicines, kidney problems from dehydration, serious allergic reactions, vision changes in people with type 2 diabetes, and food or liquid getting into the lungs during surgery or sedation. Do not take Foundayo with another GLP-1 medicine. Tell your provider if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
